Bali is one of the few destinations where the luxury resort scene is so strong, and so geographically varied, that choosing the area is harder than choosing the hotel. Bulgari Resort Bali (Uluwatu)

Perched on the Bukit clifftops, the Bulgari is the island's high-drama address — all-villa, Italian-meets-Balinese design, a funicular down the cliff face to a private beach. How the perks change the math in Bali

Bali's quirk is that its luxury rates, while serious, sit below Maldives or Riviera levels — which makes the fixed-value perks proportionally more powerful. Full daily breakfast at a Four Seasons or Reserve property, plus a $100 credit against the spa, represents a larger percentage of a Bali stay's cost than the identical package would in Bora Bora. Same rate as booking direct, materially better stay: the arithmetic is rarely this clean anywhere else.
